Meet the Owner
My name is Ashley, and I’m the founder of Sol y Miel. I come from a Puerto Rican background that’s shaped the way I see food, people, and connection. I graduated from East Carolina University, where I met people from all walks of life and was introduced to so many different cultures that continue to influence how I create and care for others.
I grew up learning Caribbean cooking, but over the years, through travel, friendships, and shared meals, I’ve fallen in love with different cuisines and cooking styles. Food has always been something personal to me, especially the joy of preparing it for others and watching it bring people together.
Alongside this, I’m a nursing student, soon to become a nurse, which reflects who I am at my core: someone who naturally cares for people. Whether in healthcare or through Sol y Miel, I’ve always been drawn to creating moments where people feel seen, comfortable, and genuinely happy.
Volunteering and community service have always been a huge part of who I am as well. Giving back to others and showing care through acts of service is something deeply important to me, both personally and through this business. That’s why with every Sol y Miel booking, a portion goes toward helping provide meals for homeless individuals in the community. My hope is that every event we create not only brings joy to your table, but also helps bring comfort and support to someone else’s.
Sol y Miel was built from that same heart. My hope is to create experiences that feel thoughtful, beautiful, and memorable. I’d be honored to be part of your celebrations, your gatherings, and the moments you want to make special. I truly hope you feel welcome here, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to create something meaningful for you.
